Patience is good in a parent. Patience is good with a dog. Patience is good with a new employee. Patience is good in a teacher.

But when does it go to far? Offices are filled with mediocre employees who underperformed from the get go, with bosses who mask their own inaction as being “patient” with getting them up to speed. The world is filled with parents who are not firm enough with their pain-in-the-ass of a child, who use patience as a cop out.

Think of the person that really inspires you, someone who you really look up to……. got someone? Now think of someone who is stuck in a really bad job, or better yet a really bad relationship. Which one would you define as more “patient”?

Patience is a virtue; it just happens to be a very overrated one. The line between patience and ambivalence is a thin one. More often than not, the world is changed by those who lost enough patience to do something about it.
